This building was originally the Liberal Club. Later it was a Chinese restaurant. There are several books on Old Kettering in the public library which show public events being marked from the balcony visible above the entrance.
If my memory serves correctly, this was also a bank (TSB?). I remember going inside it with my mum in the 1980's and the bank manager was a very old man who was hunched over.
Firstly the Liberal Club, then the TSB (Trustee Savings Bank) which was taken over by the Royal Bank of Scotland (I think). Re-opened as a chinese resturant and then a national chain public house (Witherspoons).
Mr Pratt was the TSB's Assistant Manager and he would have been about 45 to 50 years old in the 1980s. His posture was down to a health condition.
