History
The Gallery was built in 1913 by J.A. Gotch, the brother of the Kettering-born painter, T.C Gotch.
It was built to house the donated paintings of Sir Alfred East, whose bust stands outside in Sheep Street. Unfortunately, Sir Alfred did not live to see the gallery completed, and its first major function was to serve as backdrop to his funeral.
It now houses a large and eclectic permanent collection, as well as hosting a variety of exhibitions.
